The process of custom-made doll clothes revealed! 1 (2024-11-15)
My Style Dolls' custom doll clothing service has been extremely well received. We recently delivered a costume that was ordered, so we would like to share with you the production process.
We received a request from a customer to make custom doll clothes, as shown in the photo below.
Costume production target doll body: Tokyo Doll 40 (height 40cm)
The eight items we will be making are: ① Bodysuit ② Dress ③ Socks ④ Head ribbon ⑤ Choker ⑥ Hand band (decorative item) ⑦ Shoes (accessories) 8. Stick-shaped weapon (decorative)
The costume you requested uses an original pattern for most of the parts, including the bodysuit, dress, socks, and shoes. This fabric is not commercially available, so we create the printing data on a computer and have it printed at a fabric printing factory to prepare the material. It takes about 1-2 weeks from the time the printing data is sent to the fabric printing factory until the fabric is completed, so we do this work first.
The dress for this costume has a very complex shape, so first we will break it down into flat parts. While looking at the character drawing sent by the customer, we will create each of the flat parts out of paper.
Attach the paper parts to the doll and shape it.
Once you have checked the paper material, you can create each part using temporary cloth material.
Attach the cloth parts to the doll and make final adjustments to the shape.
Now the shapes of all the fabric parts have been decided. The next step is to create the printing data to send to the printing factory. While looking at the character illustration, the pattern data is drawn on the computer onto each part of the bodysuit, dress, and socks. ☟
Not all patterns are visible in the photograph. The hidden and invisible parts are added by the designer using their imagination and drawing to create flat data. The more complex the design or pattern, and the more invisible parts there are, the more difficult it is to create the data. ☟
Once the printing data is created, it is sent to the printing factory. The fabric with the printed design will be completed in about 1-2 weeks.
The bodysuit has been sewn together.

The socks are sewn together.
Next, we will create a dress.
A dress with a cute ribbon on the chest has been sewn together. A choker for the neck has also been completed.
Let's create the head ribbon.
The hand band is also finished.
Now we will start making the shoes . First, we will create the shape of the base of the shoes.
Put it on the doll and fine-tune the size.
Now we will create the ankle part.
Paint the base of the shoe and blend it with the ankle part.
The shoes are finished.
